FAQs
What is Warragul Youth Theatre?
WYT is a community-based organisation run by volunteers, dedicated to nurturing young people’s love for performing arts. We offer opportunities to participate in stage productions, workshops, and other avenues to foster a love for theatre and arts. We aim to inspire, empower, and nurture the next generation of creatives through engaging theatrical experiences. We are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where young people can explore their passions safely.
Who can join?
At Warragul Youth Theatre, we work with various production teams, and the Director determines the age requirements for each production. WYT welcomes young people aged 8–17 for performing, technical, or production roles. All members over 18 must have a valid WWCC, and young people interested in backstage roles must be over 15 due to insurance requirements.
How do I get involved?
To get involved with Warragul Youth Theatre, keep an eye on our social media for updates on our two annual productions, which take place during the April and September school holidays. We encourage everyone to attend our information nights as auditions are required for an opportunity to get involved in these shows. In addition to productions, we also offer workshops and other events throughout the year, providing additional opportunities to engage with the theatre community.
Can parents get involved?
Parents are encouraged to volunteer in various areas, including backstage support, costume-making, set construction, or assisting with front-of-house during performances. We are a volunteer run company and are constantly looking for support in the local community, if this interests you please send us a message or contact our secretary at hello@warragulyouththeatre.com.au
I’ve never done theatre before… can I still have a go?
Absolutely! We welcome new faces and no experience is necessary to get involved. Everyone auditions for a role, but don’t worry - we know it can be nerve-wracking, especially if it’s your first time. Part of our audition process includes getting to know new members and making sure everyone feels supported. We’re not just looking for talentwe’re looking for potential, passion, and a willingness to learn!
